Operations Manager - Data Center / Data center

THE COMPANY

Present in North America and six in Europe, the company innovates in the design of data centers to offer spectacular gains in terms of reliability, efficiency and sustainability. Our client is experiencing exponential growth thanks to its new facilities combined with its acquisitions across North America and Europe.

MAIN CHALLENGES

The manager works with a team that is responsible for the general proper functioning of all mechanical and electrical systems, maintenance of the building, as well as the efficiency of the server rooms. This team works every day, 24 hours a day.

The main functions of the manager will be:

Take care of the day-to-day management and administration of operations to ensure the efficient and safe use of electromechanical equipment and the building management system.

  • Ensure the commitment of employees responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment
  • Encourage and support a team-centered workplace through positive feedback
  • Manage the contractual work of the establishment, for example by understanding and defining the scope of services, handling tenders, and awarding and administering agreements

Responsibilities

  • Direct and ensure preventive maintenance and work orders for the site, if applicable, train technicians on new methods and procedures
  • Understand the design and operational aspects of electromechanical systems, immediately identify performance gaps, as well as respond to operational and emergency situations
  • Using own knowledge of systems and collected data, evaluate system performance, and suggest cost-effective improvements to services and efficiency
  • Protect and enhance the value of our assets, and ensure that machines and systems meet or exceed their expected lifespan
  • Coordinate administrative tasks associated with site operations, e.g. work orders, maintenance activities, budgets, etc.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of the parts of the budgets that concern operations and capital assets
  • Ensure the proper planning, execution and conclusion of major projects on site in accordance with current industry best practices
  • Monitor the activities of contractors working in the building

Experience and requirements required

  • At least five years’ experience supervising the maintenance of electromechanical installations in buildings or factories, highly recommended
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical engineering plans as well as building architecture and to understand connections and single-line diagrams
  • At least five years of direct management experience and good interpersonal skills, highly recommended
  • Well-established experience in internal and external customer service
  • Good communication and reporting skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word and Excel) and automatic building control systems
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position due to the nature of the role requiring regular interactions with counterparts in the operations department whose stakeholders are located in the United States and the only common language to communicate with them is English

TRAINING

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience, a must

COMPENSATION

110k and more depending on experience in addition to annual bonus, range of social benefits, vacations, holidays and flexible days
